AThe Brazilian Association for Research in Prevention and Health Promotion (BRAPEP) was founded in August 2016, during the 1st Conference on Research in Prevention held at the University of São Paulo. Its purpose is the bringing together and strengthening of the network of researchers working in the field of promotion and prevention of health problems in order to stimulate research, formation, dissemination of knowledge of public health system, as well as advocate for scientific policies in the field in Brazil. It had 53 founding members.
BRAPEP is a non-profit organization that brings together researchers from various areas of knowledge, guided by multiple theories and diverse research methods who are fully aware to the complexity of research problems in the field. It includes health workers, public sector managers, students and representatives of civil society. It conceives the production and use of knowledge guided by an ethical perspective, intrinsically committed to the reduction of social inequities, the protection of human rights and the promotion of social justice and sustainable development.
